She bought her first road bike last year for $30 at the Goodwill Store and has now proven herself as a serious contender in the local triathlon scene. Read about inspirational SFCC member Katy Chamberlin as she cycles her way to success.
Blair Robertson, writer for the Sacramento Bee, seems to think so and I agree.
Blair has written a series of "Great Rides" of the Greater Sacramento Area and his recent article features one of our favorites, the Iowa Hill - Foresthill loop.
Read what he has to say about this suffering in the saddle ride as well as provide some good pointers for those taking on this challenge.

Connect 4 a Cure will be hosting a charity event Century Ride in the Auburn area with special guest Chris Carmichael, trainer of Lance Armstrong. The event will start at Del Oro High School in Loomis and offer 30, 69 and 106 mile rides to choose from. This variety of rides will provide a route for the beginning cyclist to pro. Their Century Ride is challenging as you climb your way through a beautiful scenic tour of the Sierra Foothills.
Check out their website and routes at www.connect4acure.org.
Have you seen the new club jerseys being worn by cyclists in the Auburn area? The jerseys, made by Voler, are purchased directly from their website on a batch order basis. Voler requires at least 15 orders to be placed before they manufacture the lot. This process allows members to purchase a jersey directly from Voler (for $59 + tax) and not have the club handle inventory.
Special Note: Voler is currently not taking orders for jerseys at the Club's request. We want to hear from you if you are interested in one...or more, and we will notify Voler to take orders when we can meet their minimum order limit.
Please send an e-mail to jersey@sfcyclists.org with your name and quantity to give us a rough count. You are under no obligation to purchase one. We just want the rough numbers to know when to re-activate the ordering process.
We've had very good success with our first two processed orders with over 100 jerseys being worn by Auburn area cyclists.
